Oh my gosh Ajit!- that story was brilliant. If you have any more of those, please post them. I will never look at NMR or hydrogen molecules or physics (yes, I’m afraid of the entire subject!) with the same sense of fear and dread as before!

Rhonda, forgive me for the delay in my reply to you. Polyuria can be a renal side-effect of lithium. Arginine Vasopressin (AVP), also called Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) increases the retention of water by the kidneys. Lithium antagonizes the effect of this hormone and increases urine flow. It is known that in the long term, lithium can cause chronic kidney disease. Stage 3 kidney disease would mean your kidney function is probably about 50% – you can still lead a full life. However, if the lithium is still necessary for your health, I would suggest consulting a nephrologist too – he may put you on a diet that would be easy on the kidneys. Dr. Damodaran,
Thank you for the interesting article that I just read. What do you know about the adverse affects of Lithium/ Eskalith on renal tubular function, polyuria, nocturia, deficit in urine concentration, Interstitial Cystitis and Stage III Kidney Disease (GFR 39)? I’ve been on Lithium since April,
2004 to April, 2009. Since 2005, I’ve gradually started having all of the symptoms/ diseases that I’ve just named. It seems very evident to me that all of my health problems have been caused by the prescribed dosing of Lithium that my doctor ordered. What is your opinion regarding these issues? Thanks for your reply.

I came here looking why 21-days for forming a habit. Thanks to you I discovered Dr.Maxwell Maltz and his book Psycho-Cybernetics. I read portions of his book on http://www.scribd.com/doc/3271777/Maxwell-Maltz-PsychoCybernetics.

Well done, yet again! Interesting bit about Reuben, eh? The main problem with those bad eggs, is in the effect on the (continuing) decline of the trust of the public towards the health care industry as a whole.

I cant read the word Celebrex without hearing that god-awful jingle, though.
